David Cox
David Cox is the communication associate for Inclusive Design for Employee Access (IDEA), housed at IWH and McMaster University. He develops various communications standards, content, and strategy for the initiative.
Before joining the IDEA team, Cox was a police constable with the Toronto Police Service, working in primary response before moving into a communications role within the service’s strategy management unit. In that role, he worked on major corporate projects that focused on modernizing the service. Prior to joining the Toronto Police Service, Cox worked for 10 years as a graphic designer in the advertising industry.
Cox trained as an illustrator and designer with diplomas from Sheridan College and the Ontario College of Art and Design. He developed his softer communication skills such as negotiation, diplomacy, and rapport building during his time as a front-line police officer.
His professional interests include organizational change management, design, and the streamlining and delivery of crucial corporate messaging.
