Sara Lacarte is a research associate at the Institute for Work & Health (IWH). She is working with Dr. Emile Tompa, senior scientist and director of the Centre for Research on Work Disability Policy (CRWDP), on a project that aims to assist the Canadian financial sector in becoming disability confident in managing and supporting people with disabilities.
In 2021, Lacarte was awarded a Health System Impact Fellowship by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. For the fellowship, Lacarte will be embedded in the Canadian Autism Spectrum Disorder Alliance (CASDA) and, with the support of CRWDP, her research will promote equitable and sustainable employment of people with autism.
Lacarte is a PhD student in the Social and Behavioural Health Sciences Division of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Her dissertation research examines the mental health experiences of workers in the building and construction trades in Ontario.
