"Shifting landscapes in health and safety" is the theme of Partners in Prevention 2018. Whether it’s new legislation, innovations in technology, quality and safety standards, changing demographics or workplace culture, today’s health and safety community is challenged with staying ahead of the curve.
The Institute for Work & Health will be at this year's conference as both presenter and exhibitor.
On Tuesday, May 1, at 2:30 p.m., IWH Senior Scientist Dr. Peter Smith and Ergo Inc. President Marnie Downey, a registered kinesiologist, are leading a session titled "Sitting on the job or standing? Which is best?" They will discuss what is really going on with prolonged sitting and standing at work according to the latest evidence, what employers are doing to solve the issue of prolonged sitting at work, and how to determine if a sit-stand workstation is the solution.
On Wednesday, May 2, at 10:00 a.m., IWH Research Associate Morgane Le Pouésard is giving a session titled "Managing depression in the workplace: Bridging research and practice." She will talk about an IWH collaboration with workplaces and health practitioners to create an easy-to-use, free resource to aid in supporting employees with depression in the workplace.
Both days, IWH staff will be at Booth #525 in the exhibit hall. We will be giving away this year's edition of 5 Things We Think You Should Know, the latest issue of our popular newsletter At Work, and information on how to get your copy of our new guide on supporting people with depression in the workplace. Plus, you'll be able to enter our draw for a FitBit.
