Become an adjunct scientist

About the adjunct scientist position

Adjunct scientists at IWH are established researchers from a diversity of fields related to work and health. Their collaborations with IWH scientists help enhance the multidisciplinary nature of IWH research and strengthen the work and health research ecosystem.

The position of adjunct scientist at IWH is an honorary position given to established scientists whose primary employment is not at IWH, and who have an active and meaningful collaboration with one or more of IWH’s own scientists. Adjunct scientists and IWH scientists are often co-investigators on research projects and co-authors on peer-reviewed journal articles.

Conditions of the appointment

Adjunct scientists are appointed for an initial period of three years. The appointment may be renewed for subsequent three-year periods provided that there is a continuing prospect of meaningful collaboration.

Adjunct scientists are invited to participate in the intellectual life of IWH through attendance at IWH-hosted events throughout the year. When working collaboratively with IWH scientists, adjunct scientists may also request access to IWH facilities and resources, such as library, analytical or communications support, as circumstances permit.

It is expected that adjunct scientists acknowledge their appointment in peer-reviewed publications and scientific reports. IWH in turn will identify adjunct scientists as affiliates on its website and in its corporate publications.

Adjunct scientists are not employees of the IWH, and the appointment is not remunerated.
