Momtaz Begum joined the Institute in March 2017 as a research associate working on a project looking at employment preparation services for newcomers to Canada, especially regarding safety at work.
Begum is currently providing project coordination and research support to Dr. Aviroop Biswas on a study looking at the integration of health promotion and health protection in the workplace. She is also providing coordination and support to Dr. Stephanie Premji (an Institute adjunct scientist from McMaster University) looking at the successful return to work of linguistic minorities after a work-related injury or illness.
Begum received her master's degree in public health from the University of Melbourne in Australia. She also completed a post-graduate diploma in workplace wellness and health promotion at Centennial College in Toronto. She is a qualitative researcher interested in health research, and has worked at multiple research organizations in Australia, Bangladesh and Canada.
