Rahel Gettu is the national communications and operations coordinator for Inclusive Design for Employment Access (IDEA), a six-year initiative housed at the Institute for Work & Health (IWH) and McMaster University. In this role, she supports IDEA’s mission to advance equity and inclusion in employment for people with disabilities through strategic planning, operations, and communications.

She first joined IWH in February 2024 as an Immigrant Research Scholar through the Access Alliance Immigrant Insight Scholar Fellowship Program, where she contributed to research focused on creating safe, inclusive workplaces for newcomers in culturally and linguistically diverse environments.

Gettu holds a master’s degree in business leadership, a master’s degree in public health, as well as a mini master’s in foundations of health administration in community care from the Ted Rogers School of Management. She brings a global perspective, having held leadership roles at the United Nations where she managed programs centered on social justice and global health equity—experience that informs her approach to inclusive systems change.

Beyond her professional work, Gettu is a dedicated advocate for newcomer communities. She co-founded Black Moms, a grassroots initiative supporting Black newcomer mothers. She is deeply committed to community engagement, volunteering, and cultural exchanges that enrich her understanding of inclusion and innovation in action.
