Sari Sairanen

Sari Sairanen is the executive assistant to the secretary treasurer of Unifor, Canada’s largest private-sector union representing workers in all economic sectors, including transportation, manufacturing and natural resources. Prior to this recent appointment, she was Unifor's/Canadian Auto Workers (CAW)'s national health, safety and environment director for over 15 years, and she continues to be responsible for protecting worker rights—promoting safe and sustainable work transformations while ensuring the health and safety of workers.
Since 2013, Sairanen has been a member of the Board of Directors of Pacific Coast University/National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR) and of the Occupational Health and Safety Strategic Steering Committee at CSA Group—and remains a member of both. She previously sat on the Boards of the Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OHCOW, 2016-2022), Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS, 2012-2020) and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB, 2008-2019). She also sat on the Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Committee at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC, 2013-2022).
Sairanen has her BA (majoring in French and economics) from the University of Winnipeg.
