What would be the savings to Canadian society if we did not have any new cases of lung cancer or mesothelioma attributable to occupational asbestos exposures in a particular year? That is the key question behind an economic burden study by the Institute for Work & Health, with support of the Canadian Cancer Society. Early results from that study were presented in June 2016 at an advisory committee meeting of the EU-OSHA Project on the Estimation of Costs of Work-Related Injuries, Illnesses and Deaths at the European Level. That presentation is offered here.
